Hitting out at the Modi government on the completion of its 100 days in office, the Congress on Sunday called it a period of “tyranny, chaos and anarchy.”

In a series of tweets, the Congress slammed the government on every aspect right from GDP to automobile sector to the economy as a whole.

“Three words that describe the first 100 days of BJP 2.0 – tyranny, chaos and anarchy,” it tweeted along with a video showing 100 failures of the government.

In the backdrop of eight sectors of the economy recording a growth rate below 2 per cent, the Congress said that “if the BJP continues this path of negligence & deceit, we are headed towards recession.”

Calling BJP “incompetent” in handling the economy, the grand old party said a steep fall in GDP from last year is a direct result of the government’s ignorance & gross mismanagement of economy.

“The automobile sector is facing its worst-ever crisis in years and all the govt has to say our economy is doing better than US & China. The solution to problems comes with acknowledging them first, which this govt has failed to do. #100DaysNoVikas,” it wrote in one of its tweets.

The Congress further called former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar’s arrest a mere tool to divert public attention from the government’s failures.

“The BJP treats the parliament like a notice board; bills are not debated or discussed but presented just to complete a formality. This is a sign of a weakening democracy. #100DaysNoVikas,” it said in another tweet.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also attacked the government. “Congratulations to the Modi Govt on #100DaysNoVikas, the continued subversion of democracy, a firmer stranglehold on a submissive media to drown out criticism and a glaring lack of leadership, direction & plans where it’s needed the most – to turnaround our ravaged economy,” he tweeted.
