Nothing will save PM Modi from Rafale: Rahul Gandhi after SC verdict on Alok Verma

Alok Verma

After the Supreme Court’s verdict reinstating Alok Verma as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director came out, Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that nothing will save Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Rafale.

The apex court set aside the central government’s October 23 order divesting Verma of all powers and sending him on an indefinite leave and observed, “The government should have referred to the Select Committee consisting of the Chief Justice of India, Prime Minister and Leader of Opposition to initiate Alok Verma’s removal.”

Gandhi earlier had alleged that PM Modi removed the CBI director at midnight because he was about to start an inquiry into the Rafale scam.

Today, the Gandhi scion asserted the same and said that PM Modi will not be able to escape the Rafale controversy.

“The CBI chief was removed at 1 am because he was going to start an inquiry into the Rafale deal. Nothing is going to save the PM from Rafale. The evidence is open and shut,” Gandhi said on Tuesday while addressing media.

“It is pretty clear that the prime minister has helped Anil Ambani get Rs. 30,000 crores. 100 per cent, without a shadow of doubt, the nation will know this,” he added.

The apex court has directed the High Power Committee under the DSPE Act (The Delhi Special Police Establishment Act) to act within a week to consider Verma’s case.

Earlier in the day, the Congress Party welcomed the apex court’s judgement and wrote on Twitter, ” We welcome the Supreme Court’s verdict lambasting the govt. against their illegal removal of Alok Verma as CBI Director. The SC has reinstated Alok Verma as director.”

“Alok Verma was investigating the #RafaleScam, so he was illegally & undemocratically removed from his position. Today the SC has proven to PM Modi that democracy will always fight back. Where will NoMo hide, now that all his skeletons are falling out of the closet,” it wrote in another tweet.
