Swine flu, Zika virus engulf Rajasthan

Deadly diseases such as swine flu and zika virus have engulfed the state of Rajasthan. As many as 164 deaths were recorded that took place due to swine flu till September this year. The number is the highest in the country.

According to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as many as 4,484 positive swine flu cases surfaced across the country, out of which 1,652 cases of swine flu were recorded in Rajasthan. The number of deaths that took place in the country due to swine flu were 353.

Talking about Zika virus, the number of patients in Shastri Nagar in Jaipur rose to 32. Out of the 32 people, three include pregnant women, one of whom gave birth on Monday night.

“The ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research), National Centre for Disease Control and DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services) are monitoring the situation continuously. I want to assure citizens of India that everything is under control and there is no need to panic,” PTI quoted Union Health Minister J P Nadda as saying.

Apart from Rajasthan, Maharashtra recorded 1,167 positive swine flu cases, out of which 101 lost their lives due to the virus. 786 cases were reported from Gujarat till September 30 this year, of which 30 people succumbed to the deadly virus.

Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, all three are BJP-ruled states. Certainly, it shows the state of healthcare in these states and the attention BJP-led state government pay towards their people’s health.
