Arvind Subramanian exit: RSS affiliate requests PM Modi to appoint a ‘Sanskari’ CEA

Arvind Subramanian

RSS affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government to appoint that person as the next Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) who is well-versed with India’s cultural and civilisations values. This comes on the lines of Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian’s resignation announced by Union Minister Arun Jaitley on Facebook.

Swadeshi Jagran Manch national co-convenor Ashwani Mahajan took to Twitter to express their opinion to Prime Minister Modi. “As CEA Arvind Subramanian resigns citing personal reasons, will move to US, @swadeshimanch requests @narendramodi ji to see that next incumbent should be one who has faith in farmers, workers and entrepreneurs of Bharat and is not on sabbatical,” Mahajan tweeted.

Mahajan also quoted an article and took a dig at Subramanian for resigning in the mid of his term. “Honest opinion of a journalist about foreign educated economists,” he tweeted.

“Subramanian didn’t know India well. He stayed focussed on FDI only. He kept ignoring the most important sectors of Indian economy such as agriculture. Just like his predecessor Arvind Panagariya, he too was suffering from Washington Consensus syndrome. His agenda and objective was not clear. We need a person who is well-versed with the country’s cultural ethos and civilisational values and enjoys the trust of people,” Subramanian said in an interview to PTI.

Jaitley announced Subramanian’s resignation on June 20, citing “pressing family commitments” due to which he would return to the US.
