The person who gave rape threats to Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi’s daughter was arrested by a joint team of Mumbai and Delhi Police in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
According to his Facebook profile, he works as an “accounting associate” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Although the Twitter handle @GirishK1605 has been deactivated, the abusive tweet is still visible due to screenshots of it being circulated by many other users.

The accused has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as Priyanka Chaturvedi’s daughter is a minor.
Chaturvedi had filed a criminal complaint against the troll after she received that threatening tweet of raping her 10-year-old daughter.
The Delhi Police had filed an FIR in the case after receiving complaint from Chaturvedi.
After the arrest, the Congress spokesperson took to Twitter to thank the Mumbai Police and the Delhi Police. She also expressed her gratitude to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the Home Ministry for taking up the matter.

She also wrote, “Many thanks to all those who have called and tweeted in support. Grateful. I am convinced that if there is evil in society there is even greater goodness.
