On one hand, Delhi is witnessing its worst air pollution crisis of the year and people are struggling to breathe and on the other hand, we have ministers like Prakash Javadekar and Dr. Harsh Vardhan making absurd statements.
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted on Sunday recommending people to start their day with music. Seriously? At a time when people are developing serious respiratory problems and Delhi is literally choking, our Environment Minister has this to say.
Start your day with music. Below is the link to a scintillating thematic composition "Swagatam" by Veena exponent Emani Sankara Sastry.https://t.co/9e4mtx6I64

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan suggested people to eat carrots in order to counter pollution-related health problems.
Eating carrots helps the body get Vitamin A, potassium, & antioxidants which protect against night blindness common in India. Carrots also help against other pollution-related harm to health.#EatRightIndia @PMOIndia @MoHFW_INDIA @fssaiindia pic.twitter.com/VPjVfiMpR8

Their tweets, of course, didn’t go down well with Twitterati, with them slamming both the ministers for their casual approach towards such a serious problem.
Care for the lungs too? Mind actually doing justice to your portfolio?

This govt has gone rogue!!!
Absolutely stunning level of stupidity and indifference to people's problems.
I can never understand why PM @narendramodi has people like this Javdekar & @drharshvardhan in his cabinet.

Really? This is excellent news for the millions of people in Delhi NCR who are literally choking to death. Any advice for them? should we ask people to breathe only when necessary? Of course, the music should be a great distraction. Pathetic!

Eating carrots helps against "pollution-related harm", that's your genius advice?
Why don't you munch your way out of office and make room for someone who can actually do something meaningful#EatRightIndia— Pushp Bajaj (@BajajPushp) November 3, 2019
What a shame. People could be developing asthma and cancer because you did not do anything and then you want us to eat carrots. This will boil over in street protests outside your houses very soon. #shameful. #DelhiAirEmergency https://t.co/1a46KwpGVA

Height of insensitivity
Delhi is gasping for breath & Mantriji is pushing hard use of carrots— Pradeep Gupta (@68pradeepgupta) November 3, 2019
Such an irresponsible comment. Should take aggressive action on root cause of the problem.#DelhiAirEmergency in future we might see Delhi ncr under more alarming pollution and Govt distributing free carrots to stay healthy. #DelhiNCR #DelhiNCRPollution

What's the Central government doing to tackle pollution in NCR? Why can't you work out an incentive scheme for farmers to handover the stubble, use it to produce power in summer or in rural areas, work with states for an holistic approach, ban pvt construction Oct-Jan @PMOIndia

Didn't care for Delhi when he was environment minister.
Doesn't care for Delhi when he is health minister. You are a joke, minister.

You are health minister and science and technology minister and elected representative from Delhi. Are you serious about pollution?

After a Supreme Court mandated panel declared a public health emergency in the Delhi-NCR region, the Delhi government on Friday announced that all schools will be shut till November 5.
On Sunday, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surged to 1,239, way over the 500-level that qualifies as “severe-plus.”
