Wherever PM Modi goes, he lies and deflects attention: Rahul Gandhi

Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that wherever the latter goes, he lies and deflects attention from core issues.

“PM Modi never speaks on unemployment and problems of the farmers. PM Modi did not waive off farm loans, then where is this money going? Actually, PM Modi waived off the debts of his industrialist friends, but he will not waive off your debt,” Gandhi said while addressing a public meeting in Yavatmal, Maharashtra.

Hitting out further at PM Modi, Gandhi said that the former is not bothered by the youth being unemployed.

“He’s working for Ambani and Adani. As soon as public attention is deflected, PM Modi’s hands over your money to these 10-15 industrialists,” he said.

“PM Modi broke the backs of those who work and gave all your money to those who take bribes. As long as Modi is in power, this is not going to change. Congress is the only party that can change this,” he added.

Taking potshots at media, the former Congress president said that the media does not show the real face of the government.

“They will talk about Jim Corbett, Moon, Article 370, when will they talk about unemployment and the problem of the farmers?” he said.

“You see PM Modi’s face every day on TV and in newspapers. Does that cost nothing? No, it costs money and your money is being used for it,” he added.

Reacting to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s “GST law cannot be changed,” Gandhi said that while laws such as MNREGA, Right to Food, Land Acquisition Bill, made for the poor, can be changed, this government cannot change GST.

“They changed MNREGA, Right to Food, Land Acquisition Bill, but the Finance Minister says that GST is the law, it cannot be changed. These laws made for the poor can change, but those who steal money from people’s pockets will not change GST,” he added.

“GST has not benefited any common man or small traders. But, you ask Ambani-Adani-Mallya, they will say that small industries have shut because of GST and now it’s time for our rule. They have benefitted from GST,” he added.

Concluding his speech, Gandhi said that the country belongs to the farmers, labourers, youth, small shopkeepers of India and that all have to fight together otherwise “these people”(NDA government) will sell the whole country.
