In an engagement campaign launched by Congress on Tuesday ahead of Gandhi Jayanti, the grand old party put out a video on its Twitter handle in which people can be seen answering the question, “What would Mahatma Gandhi do in such circumstances if he were alive today?”

The hashtag #WhatWouldBapuDo has been launched with the intention of bringing to light the growing intolerance, hate crimes, moral policing, economic slowdown etc and what would Mahatma Gandhi do in such circumstances had he been alive today.

“Have you ever thought how different our country would be if Gandhiji were still here today? Hear what Indians have to say when we asked them #WhatWouldBapuDo. What are your thoughts?” Congress tweeted.

“These marches under a week-long ‘Gandhi Sandesh Yatra’ will be taken out on September 27. They will culminate at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on October 2,” India Today quoted state Congress president Amit Chavda as saying.

“‘Gandhi Sandesh Yatra’ has been organized to foil the contemporary designs to destroy Gandhian ideology and impose the ideology of (Nathuram) Godse on public,” India Today quoted Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Assembly Paresh Dhanani as saying.

“During the marches, members of the Congress will organise Gandhi ‘satsangs’ (discourses) and ‘bhajans’ to spread the message of communal harmony and social unity,” he added.
