According to the United Nations (UN) World Happiness Report, India has dropped seven places to 140 in the list of 156 nations.
India’s rank, which was 133rd last year, has dropped seven places to 140th this year.
Not just this, it was also noted that India faced the largest drop since 2005-08 in the index and was among the five such countries who witnessed the same including, Yemen, Syria, Botswana and Venezuela.
India has witnessed a decline in its rank on the Happiness Index since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government came to power, from being 117th in 2015 to 118th in 2016, to further declining to 122nd in 2017 to 133rd in 2018.

Mr. Narendra Modi talks about Digital India, cashless economy, creating jobs, but apart from failing on most of the promised goals, he seems to be overlooking the most important aspect which is the most crucial one for any country i.e. happiness.
