Ousted Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Alok Verma on Friday told the Delhi High Court that there was ” highly incriminating materials” found against special CBI director Rakesh Asthana and that a thorough probe was necessary against him.
Verma mentioned this in the affidavit filed in the high court in response to Asthana’s appeal challenging the FIR filed against him by the CBI.
In response to this, Verma mentioned in his affidavit that the “allegations made in complaint against Asthana and others are very serious and requires thorough probe.”
He further claimed that there was “cogent evidence of bribery against Asthana.”

While replying to the allegations put on him by Asthana, Verma said that the “petition by Asthana is not maintainable and is misconceived” and that “allegations are nothing but imagination of the petitioner.”
Earlier, the Supreme Court had reserved its judgement on Verma’s plea challenging the central government’s decision to oust him.
The Delhi HC hearing is separate from the apex court proceedings.
