In what me come across as a huge embarrassment as well as a matter of concern for Yogi Adityanath, a Sessions Court in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district ordered a notice to be issued against the state Chief Minister for involvement in a 19-year-old murder case.
The case dates back to 1999, in which the personal security officer of then Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Talat Aziz, Satya Prakash Yadav was killed during a protest organised by the party.
According to the police files, Yadav was killed during the protest in Maharajganj when a group, allegedly led by Adityanath, opened fire on the agitators.

Aziz had appealed to the Sessions Court to reopen the case in March this year, but it was turned down. Following this, he filed a review petition at the Lucknow High Court. The Lucknow High Court then directed the Sessions Court to reopen the trial.
Order to issue a notice to the accused, including Adityanath as well, has been given by the Sessions Court in Maharajganj and a week’s time has been given to Adityanath to respond to the notice.
Opposition parties such as Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress have demanded Adityanath’s immediate resignation.
