Rafale Deal: As 24-hour deadline expires, Rahul Gandhi says ‘guess boss refused to hold JPC’

Taking a dig at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for failing to revert within the 24-hour deadline given by Rahul Gandhi demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe what they term as the ‘Great Rafale Robbery’, the Congress President on Friday said that the government is too scared to face the people.

“Dear Mr Jaitley, I guess your boss refused to hold a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the GREAT RAFALE  ROBBERY? Too much to hide, too scared to face the people, I suppose…,” Gandhi tweeted from his official handle.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi had given a 24-hour deadline to Jaitley demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe what they term as the ‘Great Rafale Robbery’.

“Mr Jaitley, thanks for bringing the nation’s attention back to the GREAT #RAFALE ROBBERY! How about a Joint Parliamentary Committee to sort it out? Problem is, your Supreme Leader is protecting his friend, so this may be inconvenient. Do check & revert in 24 hrs. We’re waiting!” Gandhi had tweeted.

He then posted another tweet when six hours to the completion of the deadline were left.

“Dear Mr Jaitley, less than 6 hrs left for your deadline on the #Rafale JPC to run out. Young India is waiting. I hope you’re busy convincing Modi Ji and Anil Ambani Ji about why they should listen to you & approve this! @ArunJaitley,” he tweeted.

The latest round of war of words began when Jaitley posted a blog posing a set of 15 questions to the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi and iterated that the Rafale deal signed under the NDA government was on “better” terms than the one signed by the UPA government in 2007.

Rahul Gandhi then responded by throwing a 24-hour deadline in front of Jaitley demanding a JPB probe into the matter.
